# Why did I receive an email from Virtru?

## Using Virtru: What is is & how to access your secure email

At Vetty, protecting your information isn’t just a policy; it’s a promise. We take data security seriously and comply with all relevant privacy and data protection regulations to keep both you and our clients safe.

During your background check, our team (or your recruiter) may reach out via email. If that message includes sensitive details or attachments, we’ll secure it using [Virtru](https://www.virtru.com/data-protection-platform/email-encryption/send), our trusted email encryption tool.

### How to Open a Secure Email

When you receive a protected message from Vetty, just follow the steps below to access it safely:

1. Click the **Unlock Message** button in the email you received. This will open a new tab.

2. Verify your Identity by selecting or entering your email address. You may be able to use a sign in method like Google sign in or be able to sign in with a one time verification link.      1. Only the receivers of the email will be able to access this email. If you do forward this email, the new recipient will not be able to access the secure message. 
     2. Didn't receive the one time verification link? First, check your spam, junk, and/or promotions folders. If the verification email is not there within 10 minutes, it may be stuck in external quarantine or a spam filter. 3. View the email, and attachments and reply securely.

**Note:** If the request is to fill a document, and you wish to not supply it via email, you may log into your Vetty profile at [applicant.vetty.co](http://applicant.vetty.co) and upload into your **Documents** section.
