How to Connect Your Vetty and Chattr Accounts
You’ve got Vetty. You’ve got Chattr. Now let’s get them talking.
Before you start, make sure you’re a customer of both Vetty and Chattr and have active accounts set up, you’ll need an instance of each system to make this work.
Good news: the integration only takes four quick steps.
- First, log into Vetty at client.vetty.co.
- Head to Settings → API Management, then click Add New User Key.

- Choose which user you’d like to manage the integration.
- In the IP Address field, enter: 0.0.0.0/0
- Set the expiration to 24 months (or whatever time period you prefer — we recommend longer so your connection keeps humming).
- Click Add.
- Now, add a Web Hook. You will see the Web Hook tab at the top of the page you're on. If you've navigated away, no worries! You can get there by heading back over to Settings → API Management → Web Hook.
- Click Add Web Hook.
- Use the following URL: https://us-central1-hire-humanly.cloudfunctions.net/vettyReceiveEvents
- Key: chattr
- Click Add.
- Navigate back to the API Management System Tab.
- Click on the API key box to copy it to your clipboard.
- Now, log in to your Chattr account at app.chattr.ai.
- Go to your Onboarding Section — the one with the rocket icon (
)
- Select Background Checks.
- Choose Vetty.
- Paste the API key you copied from Vetty.
- Then, click Validate and Connect.
You’ll now see your token status in Chattr. From there:
-
In Chattr, you can toggle the integration on or off anytime.
-
In Vetty, you can delete the API key whenever you want to end the connection.

Connecting your Vetty Locations to Chattr
You can link your Vetty locations directly to your Chattr locations so everything lines up perfectly. The magic happens inside Chattr, but it starts with a little help from your Vetty team.
-
Set up your locations in Vetty.
Work with your CSM to make sure all of your locations are created and ready to go. -
Grab your location list.
Ask your CSM for a full list of all your locations along with their Location IDs — those are the 24-digit unique strings assigned on the Vetty back end. -
Share the goods with Chattr.
Once you’ve got that list, pass it along to your Chattr Customer Success Manager (CSM) or support team. -
Sit back while Chattr does the mapping.
The Chattr team will take care of mapping your Vetty locations so they match perfectly with your Chattr setup.
Onboarding Guide Set Up
New to Chattr? Before you dive in, you’ll want to team up with your Chattr Account Manager or CSM to customize your Onboarding Guides for each position. Think of these guides as your secret weapon for a smooth, personalized onboarding experience.
Once your onboarding guide is created, you’ll unlock the ability to customize the background check that’s tied to it.
Inside your Onboarding Guide setup, you’ll decide which Vetty background check package to run for each job position.
Here’s how:
-
Select Add Background Check to This Offer.
-
Pick the Vetty package you want to assign to your new hires for this guide.
You can also configure:
- Vetty Department – Choose the right department for this onboarding flow.
- Required Healthcare Licenses – Add these if they apply to your roles.

Vetty Licenses and Departments can be configured in two places, depending on how you prefer to manage your setup:
-
Within the Onboarding Guide, or
-
At the Job Level
Here’s how each option works:
Option 1: Configure in the Onboarding Guide
When you select a Vetty Package inside your Onboarding Guide, two dropdown menus will appear:
-
One for Departments
-
One for Licenses
Use these to assign the appropriate department and any required licenses for that onboarding flow.
Option 2: Configure at the Job Level
If you’d rather set these details for a specific role, you can do it directly from the job setup:
-
When creating or editing a job, navigate to the Post tab.
-
Locate the Department and Healthcare License settings.
-
Choose whether to override the onboarding-level selections.
When configured at the job level, the applicant will be tied to those values instead of the settings applied at the onboarding level.
Pro tip: Use onboarding-level configurations for consistency across positions, and job-level overrides when you need flexibility for specific roles.

Placing an Order with the Integration
Once your onboarding guide is set up, you are ready to use the integration.
- Log in to your Chattr account and head over to your Talent Hub
- Then, mark your candidate as hired and send the offer to them.

-
The candidate will receive their Chattr hire information and begin progressing through your Onboarding Guide.
They’ll complete each step in the guide until they reach the Vetty background check stage. At that point, the candidate will review and acknowledge the background screening directly within the Chattr onboarding guide.
This acknowledgment triggers the background check process through Vetty, while keeping everything seamless and centralized within Chattr.

- Once acknowledged, Vetty will email and text the candidate in order to get started with their background screening.
- Note: Just acknowledging the background check on Chattr does not start the check.
- The candidate will fill in the Vetty application form. Once complete, their background check will update to In Progress.
Checking the Status of a Background Check in Chattr
Need to see where a candidate’s background check stands? You can quickly view Vetty status updates right inside Chattr.
-
In Chattr, go to the Onboarding Tracker within your Talent Hub.
-
Select the candidate whose background check you want to review.
-
Navigate to the Attachments tab.
-
Scroll down to find the Vetty background check status.
