Trying to hit the brakes on a background check? While Vetty doesn’t allow you to fully delete a candidate from the system, you can Archive them—this is the official way to stop a background check in its tracks.
When you archive a candidate, Vetty immediately pauses the check at whatever stage it’s in and removes the candidate from your active view. Here's how to do it:
How to Archive a Candidate
- Open the candidate you want to stop or cancel.
- Click More Actions…
- Select Archive Candidate.
And just like that, the background check is stopped.
Will I Still Be Charged?
It depends on how far the background check has gotten:

Pending Candidate: They haven't submitted anything → no checks have started → no charges.

In Progress: The candidate filled out their info → automated checks have already begun → you will be charged for any checks already initiated.
Pro tip: If a candidate was added by mistake, archive them right away to prevent charges.
