If you see an IDV Fail status on your background check, don’t panic!
This simply means the automated Identity Verification couldn’t confirm that your selfie matches the ID you submitted. Vetty uses Veriff, our third-party verification partner, to compare your photo to your driver’s license or passport and to check for any fraud indicators.
This does not mean you failed your background check. You’ll just need to work with the company you’re applying to so they can help you resolve the IDV issue.
An IDV Fail can happen for several reasons including:
- Being under 18.
- Uploading a photo of your ID instead of the physical document.
- Low similarity between your selfie and your ID image.
- Dark or unclear images.
- An expired ID.
- Missing barcode scans.
- Duplicate applications.
- A name mismatch between your application and your ID.
