How can I check on the status of a candidate?

Want to know where a candidate’s background check stands? Vetty keeps things moving quickly, but timelines can vary depending on what’s included in the package.

Most background checks are completed within 1–4 business days.

If the package includes health screenings, the process may take a bit longer, especially if there’s a delay before the candidate visits the clinic.

Here’s how to check the status of a candidate’s background check:

  1. Go to your dashboard.
  2. Filter by Package, Location, or Status, or just type the candidate’s name or email into the search bar.
    1. If enabled, you can also search by the Health Screening Tag.
  3. You can see the overall screening status in the Status column on your dashboard.
  4. Select the candidate to dive into their order details. Everything you see there reflects the most current status of each check.
    1. Each item in the candidate’s file shows its own status. For a breakdown of what those statuses mean, head over to our article on Vetty's status definitions here.
    2. You can view additional ETA information on the county criminal, state criminal and county civil checks. To view the ETA, select the drop down next to county criminal/civil/state criminal check.
      County Criminal Drop Downs
There, you'll be able to see all names being searched and all counties being searched. Select the drop down again to view additional search details including the ETA.
  5. View the Activity Feed as it is a timeline for the file. The most recent items are on top and the oldest items are at the bottom of the feed. This section will contain any notes from the Vetty Operations team pertaining to the status of the file.

When the background check is completed, the person who placed the order will receive an email letting them know if the candidate has cleared the check or if they need further review.

Candidates who are need to be reviewed will need a hiring decision to be made. Users with the correct permissions can mark the candidate as either “Meets Hiring Criteria” or “Send Pre-adverse action.” More details on this can be found in the following article Steps for taking PreAdverse/Adverse Action.
