Will an expunged/dismissed record show up on my background check?

If your record’s been expunged, it’s officially sealed by the court and should not show up on your background check. The same goes for cases that were dismissed or where you were not found guilty. Those are considered closed chapters and won’t appear on your report.

If your case is still pending, that's a little different. Because it’s not fully resolved yet, it can show up until the court finalizes things.

Now, if you ever see something on your background check that doesn’t seem right (like an expunged or dismissed record that somehow made its way back), don’t worry. You have the right to dispute it.

When you do, Vetty’s team will step in to confirm the details directly with the courthouse. If the record shouldn’t be there, we’ll make sure it’s corrected and removed as quickly as possible.

You’ve worked hard to move forward, and we’re here to make sure your background check reflects that...accurately, fairly, and with care.
